Help Shape the Region

Well done Southern Tasmanian Councils Authority and Mercury Newspaper in seeking to engage communities in what the preferred 2030 future for the region should and could be!  This kind of activity is not only an essential exercise in participatory democracy but also a great community builder.

Tasmanian Together is a plan to get us to the preferred future for our State.  Recently, at the 10 year mark, 5000 Tasmanians attended forums, filled in surveys, and made submissions to let us know what is important to them about the next ten years.  To now see the Southern Councils focusing on their specific regional area is an exciting development.

Communities that know where they want to be in the future have the best chance of getting there.  Those that don’t could end up anywhere.  Finding out what is important to people, encouraging strategies around these things and then measuring progress is what Tasmania Together does and what the Southern Councils will be able to do too, once their engagement and planning is complete.

Southern Tasmanians have a great opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas on the preferred future.  So, jump online and participate in the 2030 survey and help shape your region.

I look forward to hearing what is important to Southern Tasmanians and to sharing the Tasmania Together review outcomes and information, so we can all work towards creating a future for our State that is 21st  century ready.

Bob Campbell
Chair, Tasmania Together Progress Board
